A parolee will be returning to prison today because he violated the terms of his parole by possessing crack cocaine.  Officer Rodatos and Cahill saw the man standing in the Potrero Hill Housing Complex.  Because the man does not live there he is trespassing on Housing Authority Property.  They also knew that he was on parole.  They searched the man and found that he numerous “rocks” of crack cocaine in his possession.

Monday, August 14, 2006 – 12:18 PM – Crack Violation, Parole Violation – Potrero Hill Housing – CS# 060 861 444 -

A neighbor in the area saw a man casing cars on Kansas Street.  She watched until the man stopped at a car and then kicked in the back window.  The neighbor called for the police and they arrive and found the man still in the car.  The neighbor had continued to watch the car until the suspect was taken into custody.  Big Kudos to the alert neighbor who was watching out for her neighborhood.  The suspect was booked on auto burglary and possession of burglary tools at Bayview Station.

Saturday, August 12, 2006, 10:00 PM, Kansas and 20th, Auto burglar caught (Case # 060856229):

Bayview Officers responded to report of a burglary in progress.  When they arrived, they saw the suspect attempting to pry a metal grill off a window.  While the suspect was being arrested, he stated, “I’ve been arrested for this before.  I’ll be out in a few hours.”  The suspect was booked at Bayview Station on attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 7:55 PM, 1000 block of Wisconsin, Burglary in progress (Case # 060844741):

Bayview Officers responded to Potrero Hill Housing Projects in response to a shooting. The victim, a 31 year old male had already been transported to SFGH with a gunshot wound to his neck and back. The victim, who survived the attack, gave no indication to who or why he was attacked.

Monday, August 1, 2006 – 7:07 PM – Assault w/ Gun – 1000 block of Connecticut Street – CS# 060 814 421

Plain clothes officers were patrolling Potrero Hill when they saw the third suspect wanted in a shooting that occurred on Watchman way a couple of weeks ago; two of the suspects are already in custody. Gang Task Force officers had identified the third suspect two days prior to this incident.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked on attempted murder charges.

Monday, July 24, 2006, 3:30 PM, Shooting suspect apprehended, 25th and Wisconsin (Case # 060751663)

The victim told the officers that he saw the man who had burglarized his home running south on Missouri.  The officers searched the area and found the suspect who was positively identified by the victim.  A warrant check revealed that the suspect was on felony parole.  he was booked for the burglary and his parole was violated at Bayview Station.

Sunday, July 23, 2006, 6:50 PM, Burglary/Parole violation, Watchman & Missouri (Case # 060779938)

Plainclothes Officers Ahern and Benzinger were on patrol in the Potrero Hill Housing Complex.  They saw a man who had an outstanding warrant for attempted homicide.  He was arrested without incident.  In his possession was crack packaged for sale and a lot of US Currency in small denominations.  The possession of crack was also added to his charges.

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006 – 1:46 PM – Attempted Homicide Warrant/Possession of Crack Cocaine – 1000 Block of Connecticut Street  - CS# 060 763 511

Officers were flagged down in the Potrero Hill Housing Projects by citizens that told them that they had just heard several shots in the area of Missouri and Watchman Way.  Officers who responded to the area found numerous bullet casings on the ground and cars and windows that had been shot.

A man came out of his unit and told the officers that he was the target of the shooting.  The victim had come out of his unit earlier and saw the three suspects standing near by.  The victim saw one of the suspects reach for a gun in his waistband and the victim ran back to his unit and stayed there until he knew that the police had arrived.

Two of the shooters have been identified and one is in custody.

Sunday, July 16, 2006, 12:00 PM, Watchman Way, Attempted Homicide with a firearm (CASE # 060751663)

Officers Cahill and Rodatos saw a man that they know to be on active parole.  They exercised the search condition of the man’s parole agreement and found a live bullet in his pocket.  Possession of such by a felon is against the law and his parole so now he will be returning to prison.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 – 5:46 PM – Ammunition by a prohibited person, Parole hold – Potrero Hill Housing - CS# 060 738 445

A man was found shot in his car parked on the west side of 3rd, facing northbound. According to witnesses at the scene, they heard shots, then saw two cars at 25th and 3rd.  A black sedan sped south on third, but the other car drove north on the south bound lanes of 3rd, then crossed over the new light rail tracks to the north bound lanes.  Near 23rd, the car again crossed the street into the south bound lanes and came to a stop just north of 23rd on the south bound side.  The man was rushed to SFGH, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the victim had an extensive narcotics history.
