Assault on an Officer with a Deadly Weapon
30 Nov 2005Daly City police were pursuing a wanted parolee known to have a gun, when the suspect lead police to the Bayview district. The pursuit went all the way from Daly City to 3rd and Cesar Chavez, where it passed Officer James Lewis. Seeing that a lone Daly City officer was pursuing the suspect, Officer Lewis joined in the pursuit as a secondary unit for the safety of all involved. The suspect continued to flee up Pennsylvania to 22nd, then 22nd to Texas, at a high rate of speed, blowing through every stop sign.
Then suddenly at Texas and Sierra, the suspect came to a complete stop. With Daly City Officer Mattos stopped right behind him, the suspect then threw his car into reverse, smashing into Officer Mattos’ patrol car, disabling both cars. Dazed, but still ready for action, Officer Mattos, with Bayview Officer Lewis and Doherty covering him, went in and dragged the parolee from the car. The suspect had a loaded semi-automatic pistol. The San Mateo County resident was taken back to Daly City for booking on warrant, assault and firearm charges.
